    Sysco-US Foods Merger Blocked by Preliminary Injunction June 26, 2015 A US Federal District Court Judge, as anticipated, issued a preliminary injunction on Tuesday blocking the Sysco-US Food merger until a full trial before a Federal Trade Commission administrative law judge currently set for mid-july.

    IBEW 21 AT&T Members Get a Raise!

    Starting on Sunday, June 28, 2015 new wage rates went into effect for many IBEW 21 members working at AT&T. The maximum rate for these wage groups was increased by 2.75%. On June 26, 2016, the last year of the CBA maximum rates will increase by an additional 3%. This information can be found on page 33 of our Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    June 29, 2015 -- We met with the Company in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, June 23 for a scheduled two-day session that was touted by the Company as the big event in the Facilities Maintenance Technician (FMT) negotiations, where the Company would present Articles 14 and 15: Wage Rates and Wage Rules. Prior to this session, the Company conveyed its belief that with the pass of Wages, the remaining open issues would fall into place and a tentative agreement would not be far off. Unfortunately, after your Committee traveled to Dallas in hopes of engaging in multiple days of productive negotiation, the Company was not prepared to deliver its ground-breaking Wage proposal due to a "last minute" issue.

    Louisville Health Department Closing Three WIC Clinics

    Despite widespread opposition from clients, WIC clinic staff, and members of the community, the Louisville Health Department is closing three WIC clinics on June 30th. Even though we were unable to stop the closings, AFSCME and our allies put the issue in the public eye. Metro wanted to close the clinics quietly. We stopped them from doing that. That’s something we can all be proud of.
